WHAT IS THE CHILLIWACK HERITAGE FESTIVAL?

The Chilliwack Heritage Festival is a free, two-day family festival to celebrate the unique heritage of one of the oldest cities in British Columbia and showcase the many First Nations groups with food, music, games and so much more!

WHERE IS THE CHILLIWACK HERITAGE FESTIVAL BEING HELD?

The Chilliwack Heritage Festival is being held at the charming Pioneer Village of the Atchelitz Threshermen’s Association. It is located at 44146 Luckakuck Way in Chilliwack, BC, next to Heritage Park, just off Highway 1. Just take exit 116 for Lickman Road south from Highway 1, or head west on Luckakuck Way off Vedder Road.

WHEN IS THE CHILLIWACK HERITAGE FESTIVAL?

The first annual Chilliwack Heritage Festival will be on Saturday, August 22nd and Sunday, August 23rd, 2020, from 10 in the morning until 6 in the evening both days.

WHAT IS THERE TO DO AT THE CHILLIWACK HERITAGE FESTIVAL?

There will be live music, old-fashioned games for the young at heart, interactive displays, storytellers, dance demonstrations, food trucks and more! You will be able to try different skills and crafts yourself! Eight distinct communities and ten local First Nations groups will have their own pavilions featuring heritage artifacts and photographs. HOW CAN I HELP SUPPORT THE CHILLIWACK HERITAGE FESTIVAL?

The Chilliwack Heritage Festival welcomes your contribution of time, talent and resources. As a nonprofit, free event we rely on sponsorship, donations and volunteers. Volunteers are welcome! What a great way to fully experience the Chilliwack Heritage Festival by welcoming visitors, helping to host one of the community pavilions, or assisting the children with old-fashioned games. HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

Admission is FREE for the whole family! Parking and admission is by donation. You are welcome to bring a picnic although you may wish to purchase food from “Gramma’s Grill” or one of the many food trucks. There will also be handicrafts for purchase in the Marketplace.

WHAT IF IT RAINS?

Don’t worry. Although this is an outdoor event, there are lots of covered areas including the community pavilions, Museum and picnic shelter. Bring an umbrella, just in case!

WILL THERE BE ALCOHOL AVAILABLE?

No. There will be no drinking or smoking permitted at the Chilliwack Heritage Festival.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO THE CHILLIWACK HERITAGE FESTIVAL?

This is an outdoor venue with two performance stages and several food trucks. You may wish to bring lawn chairs, spending money for food and snacks, and money for purchasing handicrafts in the Marketplace. You are welcome to bring your own picnic lunch and beverages.

IS THE CHILLIWACK HERITAGE FESTIVAL A “GREEN” EVENT?

Thank you for thinking of the environment! We encourage visitors to recycle and reuse food and beverage containers. There will be several recycling bins throughout the venue. Smoking is not permitted.

IS THE FESTIVAL ACCESSIBLE FOR THE HANDICAPPED?

Yes! The Chilliwack Heritage Festival grounds are flat with a packed dirt road around the entire site and large grassy fields. Some of the buildings have wheelchair accessible ramps. You may drop off individuals at the front entrance before parking or park in the designated handicapped parking area near the entrance.
